In the wild, animals eat other species of animals. Humans are animals, capable of digesting both plants and meat. We can eat meat because other omnivores can. We humans act so high and mighty. I eat poultry and fish, but I do not think that these beings are inferior. Before eating them, I silently thank them for feeding me. However, members of other species should have as wonderful a life as they possibly can. And if they become food, they should have a quick and painless death and should be thanked for their life and death. I treat other living beings with the utmost respect, even in death. Even when I am eating them.
I may be afraid of some animals and not like them as much as my favorites but that doesn't mean I won't help them. My mom wants to kill the pigeons nesting in my house roofs' cracks and Im like can we just move them, not kill em? They do carry lots of illnesses I know but still..they have family and lives.
I Love all animals! I'd even try to save a wild rat if someone was trying to kill it, or if one was in my house, I'd move it outside, and not kill it. Even though people are like "Eww but deh kill peeps! and carry diseases!" Well, they might bite you, and carry diseases, but its not their fault! People should realize that these little creatures have families of their own, they go through just as much as homeless people do. People see them as pests who live an easy life taking food from people, But its not true, and people would do the same with animals if they were in the rats' place.
Sometimes though, saving an animal is just harming it even more. I mean, the white tigers, people are like "ooh its sooo coolz!!11" and "We have 2 save it!" but these animals have only one way to live: Live in pain with serious medical problems, and lay there all day with people snapping camera's at it. Not fun.
I do my best to extend kindness towards any animal. Heck, I even pick up spiders and put them outside. Lots of people find them icky, but they seldom realize the ecological importance of them. Besides, it irks me when someone's reasoning for killing spiders (or any animal, really) fall into the superficial reasoning that the creature deserves to die for offending their aesthetic tastes.
Good! I hate those people who whine about pets being treated cruelly and being killed, but ignoring cows and chickens and pigs under "we'll cats and dogs r pets, cows n chickens r animals!" No you know what, chickens have the IQ of a 2year old, and at McDonald's, they only live 6 months before being killed for food. Or the cows that are slaughtered. God, I eat meat and hunt, but way to be a douche about liking animals.
Oh and there's the fact that people care about the wolves population more than animals like Amur leopards and tigers! Only 38 Amur leopards left everywhere!! And only 400 Amur tigers! And these stupid wolves are getting "saved"!
Also, having a low IQ does not mean you are not intelligent. I thought chickens were stupid animals too, until I got some, and now I have discovered that they have amazing ways of communicating and are very social animals. They have a peep for everything, if they are hungry, if they are frightened, if they realize that they are all alone and need to find the flock, etc. They can even be classically conditioned, though I would argue that every mammal can be, even humans are.
See there is animal rights, animal welfare, and the downright ignorant and stupid, which is what I find most on this site, unfortunately, and a lot of the users aren't even children which I think is pretty funny considering they say children are stupid, I've found the contrary. Anyway, I prefer animal welfare.
Animal rights is: Absolutely no death, even if you humanely take a life it is taking a life and it is a horrible and disgusting act. I believe having pets is like putting them into a prison, there is no way to keep an exotic animal, zoos should be abolished, etc.
Animal welfare is: There are right and wrong ways to kill an animal, I believe they should be killed as humanely as possible, and everyone should have the right to eat whatever they want as long as it is done in a humane and ethical manner. I acknowledge that animals have emotions and are capable of feeling pain, this is why it is important to take care of them properly and kill them properly. It is ignorant and naive to say all animals raised and slaughtered for food products as well as clothing products (in the case of fur) are raised and killed in horrible conditions and ways, because in order to produce a quality product and increase productivity, one must raise and kill in a correct manner. I know that domesticated animals would not survive in the wild (or do the opposite, flourish and destroy the land) and we depend on them, especially when it comes to food. Getting rid of them completely or only having wild populations of domestic animals is ridiculous and harmful for them. There are particular individuals who know how to properly keep and care for exotic animals, this includes zoos. As long as they are properly taken care of, have proper containment and mental stimulation, I see no problem with exotic pets or zoos. Etc.
Downright ignorant/stupid: Animals are slaughtered in cruel ways but I don't care 'cuz I like mah meat. Animals are stupid and they scream when you hit them because of a reflex, not because they are in pain, stupid. LOL pets are awsm. People who keep exotic pets are freaking crazy but cool at the same time. I wish I could have a pet (fill in the blank) because they're so friggen awesome/cute/pretty.
You argument is speciesist. Many wolf activists care about other species too, but the fact is if you are a wolf activist, you focus on wolves, yes, but not all ONLY focus on wolves, thinking that they/we do is ignorant of you (which is nothing new, really). If there is an organization trying to protect wolves, they are not going to talk about amur leopards, tigers, rhinos, etc. Because that is not what their foundation is about. If your favorite animal is the wolf and you discover they need protection, this is just the beginning of your adventure into conservation.
Grey wolves DO still need protection and to be "saved", Idaho has 150 wolves right now, or at least this is all we can assume because they have killed approximately 500 in two years without doing a population count. I do not know about other states but I know it is bad there too, Yellowstone is even struggling to keep up research because their wolves are being killed too. [link] I've heard their tourism has also suffered, but I don't know if that is true, just a rumor.
You are in the same category as the people who say "Why do you care so much about animals when there are people dying of cancer?" This is speciesism. Educate yourself, learn compassion, and stop being selfish.
Yes, but wolves are only LOCALLY endangered in Idaho. If that small population dies out, There will be thousands of other gray wolves elsewhere. That's just bending the facts to suit you. Yellowstones wolves are also not native so
What do you mean "learn compassion" "stop being selfish" You 1) Don't know me, so you saying that is an arrogant assumption about someone you know NOTHING about. 2) I literally just said that there are animals that need MORE help, that aren't getting it because they aren't popular. also, Speciesist isn't a word. Please, enlighten me with your infinate pool of holy wisdom. How is seeing domestic and non-domestic animals as equals "speciesism"? How is donating money to WWF to species on the literal brink of extiction speciesism? Fact is, SOME ANIMALS NEED MORE HELP THAN OTHERS.
Fact is hun, Never asked for your opinion. Don't like mine then you shouldn't have replyied all insulting and arrogant. Your opinion is no better than mine, And I am not "speciesist"
Ignore ~Niabiz (formerly !Its-Wolfeh, who ragequit after being called out on that account). She knows nothing of biology, considering she is a backyard breeder who is unconcerned with the health of her animals, so long as they turn out to be a pretty color.
Oh okay so, screw Idaho, who cares if their ungulate population explodes and shiz because we have thousands more wolves in the rest of the U.S! How considerate of you.
I said "people", not "you", though your defensiveness says something about you. Speciesism is, so speciesist should be. I'm just confused by the rest of that paragraph, lol.
Welcome to the internet sweetie, where if you want to post your opinion, expect other opinions in return, because this is the internet where opinions run free, whether you like it or not. Seeing how emotional you are about the subject of speciesism, I would have to concur.
Well, the fact that people care more about wolves doesn't make the wolves stupid, it's not their fault. Besides, it depends on where you live, because, for example, no matter how "law-abiding" Finland is, Finnish wolves have become highly endangered. I think that trying to maintain the population of a species and protecting them from poaching is better than waiting until that species becomes nearly extinct.
yes, but wolves are not OVER ALL endangered. thousands of them. and .the fact is, the only wolf ive seen in any "SAV TEH WOLFZZ111" videos have been gray wolves. not endangered. yes, some local population of them are endangered, but globally they arent endangered. Amur leopards on the other hand, nearly gone in the wild. along with many other animals wolfaboos don't give a shit about
Thankfully I am the weird type that tends to read comments for personal reassurance. However I must agree that you are better off putting a description of your work in its respected area anyway because not everyone is going to do what I do, especially if they are dead comments. Also, the way the stamp is worded is fairly vague and can leave room for misinterpretation of its meaning and without a properly written description at the ready to say otherwise, you really cannot complain if people take it the wrong way. Even I was unsure what this was promoting until I decided to go through months of dead comments. Providing a description explaining its meaning however alleviates this problem drastically. Telling people to go through pages of comments and that it is their problem for not getting it does nothing but make you look like just as much of an ass as the misinterpreters.
Animals are not humans, therefor there lives are meaningless.
...But seriously, I'm disgusted by the people who act like Speciesism is a good thing because humans were meant to be superior and can kill and do whatever they want as long as it benefits people. It's that kind of mindset that's running the world, and it really isn't doing a good job of it. And you know why they do it? Because animals are dumb. They don't think like humans. They don't have feelings like humans. They don't deserve to be respected just because they're oh so small and helpless. Sometimes people even act like animals have it better than we, humans, just to make animals look even more worthless. And then there's the people who swear they love and care about animals, yet will support for anything that involves killing them, and also try to go around saying how animal activists and vegetarians are awful citizens. Kuwaizer, a person I noticed commented here, is one of those people.
I mean, why is it so bad that people care about animals. In fact, why is it wrong for humans to care more about animals than the human race, when a heavy section of the human race is filled with greed and corruption. Yes, these people are just the people who stand out, and have the power, but it still reflects on our race as a whole. It almost seems like good intentions go unnoticed these days. And yet, when the economy is crumbling to fuel an unnecessary war, or how health care went down the toilet, people insist on complaining about how animal activists create television commercials or how Vegetarians eat vegetables. Yeah, "Animal lovers" have time to bitch about that, but no time to complain about unnecessary slaughtering of sea life or the cruel conditions animals live under factory farming. Like, really?
That makes you a REAL animal lover? And what's with this stereotype that animal lovers are misanthropic assholes who want the human race to die out. Sure, my respect for my own species is low compared to others, but I don't wish for that to happen at all. Humans have the ability to change all of that, to overcome their flaws to become a magnificent species. Yet, as long as you even dare talk with the animals in mind, no one will take you seriously. So what, we should just stop helping creatures? We do things destroy life that if we sacrificed the practice it wouldn't effect us all that much, but nope. There's ALWAYS excuses as to why we shouldn't stop doing stuff that destroys the environment. It's as if the only truly flawed people are Animal Lovers. Nazis, Serial Killers, Republicans, etc. They're all perfect individuals. But those horrible, rotten, disgusting animal lovers need to die!
Animals definetely have feelings and thoughts. And animals can show love and affection. I have two dogs and I can tell they think and feel. I spoke to one person once who claimed that only 'pet animals' are sentient and animals that people eat aren't. I call bull.

Um... Sorry, but you do realize that was joking in the above, comment, don't you? He was being sarcastic. What he was saying is basically a parody of how some of these anti-animal or anti-vegan people think, and his parody was actually very accurate. I've seen many people online and even IRL who think this way. But Mugo doesn't hate animals. He'sly far more annoyed by some anti-animal blokes here, and he has made some stamps on the issue which you may enjoy. You should check out his gallery. Thanks.
